Sephora Sale Picks

April 20, 2020

One of the best sales of the year is here, y’all! This is the prime time to stock up on your favorite beauty and skincare products, or grab some new products that you’ve been itching to try. First things first, make sure you are signed up to be a part of Sephora’s Beauty Insider program so you can take part in the sale (it’s free to sign up)! There are three tiers – Rouge is the top tier and they always have first access to the sale, days ahead of everyone else, and get the most savings at 20% off. VIB is the second tier and they get 15% off starting on 4/21, and Insider is the third tier and they receive 10% off starting 4/23. I try to buy all of my beauty and skincare products from Sephora throughout the year, so I can rack up on rewards and reach the Rouge status so I have maximum savings when sale time rolls around!

I have categorized my picks in two categories below – Makeup & Skincare. Here we go…

Makeup

Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector – this is the very first step of my makeup routine. I use the light shade, but it looks to be out of stock right now. You can also find it here.

On days where I don’t want to wear a full face of foundation, I really like this tinted moisturizer. It has SPF 30, and it gives just enough coverage but is still super lightweight and leaves your face looking natural and glow. I showed more about this in my stories over the weekend (check out the “makeup” highlight on my Instagram profile).

This foundation is my OG! I have used this for years – Dior changed the formula a year or so ago, but this one is just as good as the older one. I have tried other foundations, but this is the best I have ever used. I use a darker shade in the summer, and lighter in the winter. I use the shade finder on the Sephora website to find the right color and so far it has not failed me in choosing the right shade.

This bronzer is another go-to for me. When I find a product I love, I rarely stray, so you’ve probably seen/heard me talk about most of these before. This bronzer comes in a mini version too. It’s very pigmented so a little goes a long way.

I have tried many highlighters over the years, looking for that perfect shimmer and THIS IS IT. I sweep a little over the top of my cheeks, usually under the arch of my brows, and sometimes on the Cupid’s bow of my lips. I use shade “opal”.

This is the brush set that I use for my face makeup – it is not sold at Sephora, but I still wanted to share them in case you are in the market for brushes. I have had these for several years and I have enjoyed them.

I have been using this eyeliner for a while now and really like it. I often struggle with eyeliners but this one goes on well. I did just buy a liquid liner from Glossier but have not played around with it yet…if you’re looking for a traditional pencil style, this is a good one.

Why is it so hard to find the perfect mascara? This is a good one for thickening and lengthening, in my opinion. I also appreciate it comes in a more affordable mini version so you can try it out without investing in the larger size.

If you’re looking for a good eyeshadow palette, I highly recommend this one. I bought it ages ago and I have used up majority of the neutral colors. There are so many good colors and lots of ways to mix them up for different looks.

Skincare

Hello, my name is Shannon, and I am addicted to Drunk Elephant skincare. Seriously though, I have talked about this skincare line many, many, MANY times. Again, when I find a product I love, I am super loyal to it! This product line has done wonders for my skin – it has evened out my skin tone, balanced the PH of my skin so that I am not oily or super dry – my skin is totally normal with rarely any breakouts (and I struggled with a full-on adult acne breakout when I hit 30 years old!). If you have been wanting to try it but have been on the fence, NOW is the time to grab one or two products and give it a go. Below is a breakdown of my morning & nighttime routine (I also talked about this in more detail on my Instagram stories – you can find it saved to the “skincare” story highlights on my profile).

Morning Routine:

(ignore the jar of BeautyCounter Eye Cream – this pic was taken a few weeks back, and Sephora does not sell BeautyCounter. I did like this eye cream, and I have a friend who is a consultant, so let me know if you’re interested and I’ll put you in contact with her).

  • The first thing I do in the morning is wash my face with the Jelly cleanser (the tube in the far left of the photo).
  • Then I mix one pump of the C-Firma Day Serum with one pump of the B-Hydra gel and that is it! No moisturizer needed.

Night Routine:

  • At night, I like to do a double cleanse. I start with the Slaai Makeup Melting Butter Cleanser to remove all of my makeup (and it’s safe for the eyes too).
  • After that, I follow up with the Jelly Cleanser (same one that I use in the morning).
  • After cleansing, I mix one pump of the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum with a drop of the Virgin Marula Oil. Trust me, the oil absorbs right into the skin and does not leave you feeling oily at all. If my skin is feeling dry or I just want to add a bit more from a moisturizer perspective, I like to mix in a little bit of the Protini Polypeptide Cream.
  • That is my normal nighttime routine, but I recently added in a new product from the DE line – the F-Balm Waterfacial. It’s basically an overnight facial and I love the way my skin looks in the morning after wearing it.
  • Also, once or twice a week, I will use the A-Passioni Retinol cream, and on those nights, I do not use the glycolic serum.

So here’s the deal, I know all of that may be a bit overwhelming and may sound like a lot of steps/products. I have slowly added in different products to my routine over the years as they have expanded the line. If you only want to start with one or two products, I would highly recommend beginning with the serums – either the C-Firma for the morning or the Glycolic serum for night. If you want a sampling of more products, you can buy the “Littles” kit. I bought this to have on hand for travel – I feel like it would last three, maybe four weeks with regular daily use.

Let me know what goodies you snag! Happy shopping!
