Tropical Vacation Style

September 7, 2018

Good morning and HAPPY FRIDAY!  How has everyone’s week been?  I know it was a “short” week due to the Labor Day Holiday, but it sure did not feel like it!  I’m happy to welcome the weekend!

In my Turks & Caicos Travel Guide post, I had promised to write a separate post to summarize all of my outfit details.  One of my favorite things to shop for and style is vacation looks!  When I have a trip planned, I always start brainstorming and browsing the internet for outfit inspiration weeks in advance.  I know summer is winding down (even though the temps don’t feel like it!), but a lot of these pieces are still available, and most of them are very affordable, which is always important!

Travel Look:

Top | White Jeans | White Shorts | Hat | Shoes

Lilly Pulitzer is always a great source for fun resort wear.  I stopped by the Lilly store prior to leaving on our trip and found this adorable off-the-shoulder top on the sale rack.  I decided to wear this for our travel day – I wore it with white jeans so I would not be too cold on the flight, then changed into shorts once we got to the resort.  Because the top is a bit blousy, I knotted it in the waist to give it a more fitted look around my midsection.  I’m hoping this style will be included in the Lilly After Party Sale coming up NEXT WEEK!

Dinner Look on Night 1:

One Shoulder Dress | Turquoise Earrings| Less expensive option

This dress was a bit of a splurge, but SO worth it!  I don’t mind spending a bit more on a piece that I know I’ll keep for years, like this one.  I cannot tell you enough how comfortable this dress is – it is made of the softest, most lightweight material, and it feels like wearing a giant t-shirt.  I love that it was super loose and flowy, but the one shoulder and colorful embroidery still allowed it to be interesting and flattering.  This dress also comes in three other colors!  This was my first Pitusa piece, but I now plan to add more to my wardrobe!  Note:  you can save 15% off your purchase if you sign up for their e-mails!

First Full Beach Day:

Red Swimsuit (also in black) | Hat | Sunglasses

I shared my love for this swimsuit in a recent blog post, and I finally got to wear it on this trip!  I had multiple people come up to me on the beach to tell me how much they loved it.  The fit of this suit is just amazing, especially considering the price!  It also comes in black with a white ruffle.  I can’t believe this one is still in stock in both colors – you need to snag it now and save it for next summer!

Anniversary Dinner Look:

Blue Maxi (also in pink) | Feather Earrings

When I first saw this dress, it immediately made me think of the beautiful turquoise Caribbean water.  While it is long sleeved, the top is thin and somewhat sheer, so it is not hot at all (note you would need to wear a nude bra underneath).  It was the perfect dress to wear for our anniversary dinner at an outdoor restaurant right on the beach.  This one also comes in a pink colorway that is equally beautiful (and did I mention it is under $50??)!

Beach Day 2:

Bikini Top | Bottom | One Piece Version

This will go down as one of my favorite swimsuits of all time.  From the wrap top, to the bright and colorful colorblocking, it’s just one of those unique finds that I’ll probably keep forever!

Cover-up

This white crochet cover-up dress was a favorite throughout the whole trip – I purchased this during a shopping trip at South Moon Under in Raleigh earlier in the summer, but I found it was still available on their website (sizing note:  I went with a Medium in this because that was all that was left in-store and it worked fine, so you can probably size up if you want!).

Dinner Look on Night 3:

Top | Pants | Earrings | (shoes are old)

I had all of the summer trends covered in this outfit – two piece set, crochet details, crop top, wide leg pants – and the whole outfit was roughly $50!  I like that it was a little more casual, but still cute and fun.

Shopping Around Town:

Top | Shorts | Sandals | Sunglasses | Bag

This two piece set is actually labeled as a cover-up, but I wore this as an outfit to breakfast one morning, then shopping around town.  You can’t really tell by the photo, but the top is a little bit cropped, but with the elastic band on the shorts, you can show as much or little tummy as you want.

Final Beach Day:

Bikini Top | Bottom | Hat | Cover-up (not pictured)

Everyone needs a simple black bathing suit, and this one fits the bill for under $40.  I like that it has a little crochet detail on the top and bottom to make it a little more interesting.  Target has some really great swimsuits!

Look for Our Last Night:

Bodysuit (also comes in black) | Tiered Skirt | Earrings | (shoes are old) Similar Option

This tiered skirt and white bodysuit was one of the most fun outfits I’ve worn in a long time!  The skirt was the absolute perfect length – I didn’t even have to wear heels which was nice for a change!  I remember being in middle school and begging my mom to buy me a bodysuit because they were all the rage.  Then during my cheerleading years, we wore turtleneck bodysuits under our uniforms and they were THE WORST EVER.  Never in a million years would I have thought I would be wearing them again, yet here I am!  This is actually the third bodysuit I’ve bought this season!

Well, that wraps up all of my tropical vacation looks.  I hope you all have a happy Friday and a wonderful weekend! XOXO!
