The Friday Five: Travel Edition
Happy Friday! I hope you all have had a great week! I spent the first half of this week in Chicago for a work conference. It was a relatively quick trip (I flew in Monday morning and came home Wednesday night) and we had a packed agenda, but we were able to squeeze in a few sights while there! From what I saw of Chicago, it was a beautiful city! I definitely want to go back for a pleasure trip so I can see and enjoy it more.
I have not written a Friday Five blog post in quite a while, so since I just got back from a trip, I thought it would be fun to do one centered around travel!
#1 – Chicago Skydeck
Kicking the five off with one of the highlights of my trip to Chicago – The Chicago Skydeck! This is where the above picture of me was taken. It’s on the 103rd floor of Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower), and there are “viewing platforms” that are basically like glass boxes that extend off the side of the building. If you plan to visit Chicago AND you’re not afraid of heights, this is the ultimate photo opp! We wanted to go during the day, but never got time, so we went at night instead and the view of the city lights from that high up was incredible. I will say…I had a moment of panic when I stepped out onto the glass ledge, but I smiled my way through it long enough to snap a photo and then I practically crawled off!
#2 – Travel Cosmetic Case
I typically keep all of my makeup in a Scout cosmetic zipper bag, and I always get so frustrated trying to find what I’m looking for! A couple of other bloggers have shared about this travel case, so I recently purchased one and I really like it – I especially love that it is only $20! It’s technically a travel case, but I think I am going to keep my make-up in it at all times. It is much more organized and easy to see everything at a glance! I particularly like the separate storage area for brushes. It comes in a couple other colors, but of course I went with the pink!
#3 – MZ Wallace Tote Bag
I’ve shared my love for the MZ Wallace tote bag before, and I continue to do so because it truly is a great bag! I used it this week as my carry-on bag to store my laptop, a change of clothes, jewelry, etc. (mine is the large size). I always prefer carrying a shoulder bag through the airport instead of a roller bag. I also use it every day as my gym bag, too! I really want the smaller version next to use as a purse. I also noticed that they have a great selection of bags specifically for travel if you need something bigger and more durable.
#4 – Travel Steamer
I bought one of these steamers several years ago and it might just be one of the best Amazon purchases I’ve ever made. If you despise ironing like me, then you will agree that these little handheld steamers are a lifesaver! I use mine all of the time, not just for travel; However, it comes in a little pouch and it is super easy to pack for traveling. I will say that the lifespan on these steamers is not super long…I am on my third one in about four years.
#5 – To Live and Die in L.A. Podcast
When traveling, I always want a good podcast and a good book to keep me occupied. I started the “To Live & Die in LA” podcast after hearing about it on Good Morning America last week. I listened to a couple of episodes while traveling this week, and it has gotten really juicy! I like a good mystery every once in a while, and this one is a bit unique because it’s being documented as the investigation is occurring. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a quick and easy podcast!
That’s it for today’s Friday Five! I hope you all have an awesome weekend!!
