The Baybrooke Project
Earlier this year, a local couple reached out to see if I would be interested in helping them with the interiors of their new home. While home projects are something I absolutely love to do – probably my favorite thing to do – I am super intimidated at the idea of decorating others’ homes. I am not a trained interior designer, and have no background or education in the field, so I do not feel “qualified” to help others. That being said, I have spent several years creating visions for spaces in our home, and have seen several of them come to fruition, and that’s something in which I am very proud. It’s easy to doubt yourself and your abilities, but I knew I needed to take this opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and test my skills with a project outside of my own home!
My clients’ home was a new build and was fully furnished, so they were focused on adding the finishing touches from a decor perspective. We started with the dining room and foyer, as those are the first two rooms you see as you enter the home. As you will see, the previous spaces were just fine, but it is amazing to see how light fixtures, rugs, and decorative touches can make such a big impact! As always, I like to begin with a vision board after seeing a space, and I have shared the boards I created for both rooms below.
Dining Room
The Vision Board:
In the dining room, we added a new rug, switched out the builder basic light fixture for a major statement fixture (my favorite thing in the room!), we added larger matching lamps on the buffet as well as a beautiful wall mirror. The finishing touches were table settings, a centerpiece, and a few small decorative items on the buffet. We still need to add window treatments, but there are other rooms where they plan to add those, so we are going to do that last! Now for the good ole before & afters…

Foyer
The Vision Board:
In the foyer, we also changed out the light fixture, then changed up the decor on the console table. We added a large lamp at one end, and a statement making floral arrangement at the other, with pretty books and updated frames in the center. Going with larger items like we did here goes better with the scale of the wall clock and console table, and really makes the whole setup pop! We also added matching baskets for symmetry at the bottom of the table. And here are the before & afters…

I am so honored that this sweet couple trusted me with their home, and I’m equally thankful that they were so pleased with the finished product! See, sometimes stepping outside of your comfort zone is worth the risk! I hope you have enjoyed seeing this project, and as always, thanks for stopping by!

That looks so nice! Where did you purchase the rug and lamps in the dining room?
