Our Christmas Mantel Decor
This year I decided I wanted to change up my mantel décor and do full and lush statement making greenery. I was scouring Pinterest for ideas and happened to come across my friend Chrissy’s blog post from last year, where she made a beautiful faux garland, and I was immediately inspired. BTW, she is from North Carolina, too, and has the most beautiful home – definitely give her a follow if you don’t already!
All the details on how I created this as well as links to all items are included at the end of this post! Scroll on through to see all the photos and get the deets!

I made this garland using three different types of garland. I started with the base, which is this prelit traditional Frasier fir style. I got the 9ft option. You can also find it here. I laid this garland out on the floor and fluffed it by adjusting and straightening all of the branches. I was really impressed with the quality of this garland!
After I got it all fluffed, I then attached this faux pine garland. I only needed one of these (length is 6ft).
The third and final garland that I attached is this eucalyptus. This also comes in 6ft length and I only used one. Although, I did purchase more strands of both the pine garland and above and the eucalyptus to use on the table and shelves in my kitchen because I loved them so much!
I used these “plant twists” to attach each garland to the other. It’s super easy to do!
Next was hanging the garland, and that didn’t go as easy as I had hoped. I started out with trying to use large command hooks like Chrissy showed in her blog post, but not long after we hung the garland on them, it fell. It was just too heavy. My husband suggested screws which made me cringe, but he seemed to think it was okay, so I went with it. He added a screw ON TOP of the mantel on each end, and then we hung the garland behind them on each end and it has worked perfectly. I don’t plan to fill in the holes after Christmas, as the decor I keep on the mantel year-round will probably keep them covered.
After the garland was up, I hung the stockings in groups at each end. I just attached them right onto the garland by twisting the stems through the stocking loop.
Next, I added bows tied with velvet ribbons to each end, which is probably one of my favorite little touches! I used this ribbon and it was enough to tie about two and a half bows, so you may want to purchase two if you want to have extra.
And finally, I added a few simple additions to the greenery with blush poinsettia stems and gold berry stems, both of which I found at Hobby Lobby. You can see the up close of them below!
The bottle brush trees and stockings are from Target (linked below), and all of the churches are from Pier 1 (last year) with the exception of the one on the far right which came from a local store, It’s So Wright.
