Nordstrom Anniversary Sale

July 12, 2019Shannon Aycock

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is here, y’all! I want to cover a few logistics in case you are new to shopping the sale. The reason this sale is so special is because Nordstrom releases new arrivals for the Fall/Winter season at a largely discounted price (some summer things are also included). At the end of the sale, the prices go up to the normal retail price, so it truly is a unique sale and a great time to stock up on wardrobe staples for the upcoming season!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – Key Dates:

  • July 12-18 – Early Sale Access for Nordstrom Cardholders
  • July 19 – August 4 – Sale is open for everyone
  • August 5 – Sale is over and prices go back up

As outlined above, early access starts today, but you have to be a Nordstrom cardholder to shop early. If you are not a Nordstrom cardholder, you will have to wait until July 19th to access the sale and risk your favorite items being sold out. It really pays to be a cardholder just to have early access to the sale, and then you can always turn right around and pay it off! You can apply right here.

As you probably already know, just about every blogger out there will be covering this sale for the next couple of weeks, and you’re probably going to be feeling a bit overwhelmed with alllllllll of the goods that will be thrown your way! There will be so many pretty things and you will feel a sense of urgency to buy them all, but trust me, you don’t need it all! Try to be strategic with how you approach the sale, and focus on things you really need first!

In an effort to not overwhelm you, I am going to start by sharing five categories that I always tend to shop for at the beginning of the sale + a special requests section. As the sale goes on for the next couple of weeks, I may come back and add other things I am eyeing, and maybe check out some of the other categories like jewelry, home, beauty, etc. I am open to any and all feedback about this approach – I am doing this for you all at the end of the day, so I want it to be as helpful as possible without forcing it down your throat! If you are looking for something specific, be sure to let me know and I’ll do my best to share those things here, too!

Okay, without further ado, let’s get this party started! Be sure to use the arrows to scroll through each row of images to see all of my picks!

#1 – Zella Leggings

My favorite everyday leggings are the “live-in” by Zella – they’re called that for a reason! I buy a new black pair every year, and usually they are full length, but this year, they also come in a 7/8 length! Sizing wise, I usually go with an XS. I’m also sharing a couple other styles that are great for the gym – I work out in Zella’s athletic leggings often and they hold up well.

#2 – Natori Bras

Another favorite that I buy one or two of each year is Natori bras. This is pretty much the only brand of bra I wear now – love love love them. The quality is superb and this is a great opportunity to get them at an awesome price. Below are a few of my faves – I typically go for neutrals or black, but most of the ones I’m showing below come in other colors, too! I also like the Natori undies, so linking some of those below as well.

#3 – Coats

I usually always check out the coat selection during the anniversary sale as there are typically some great options ranging from more casual, everyday styles to dressier styles. I bought a Bernardo puffer coat a couple of years ago and I have gotten so much wear out of it. They also have a couple of Barbour styles included in the sale, so now would be a great time to invest in one of these! I personally have my eye on one of these white jackets! I wanted a white puffer last winter and missed out!

#4 – Boots/Booties

There are tons of shoes available during the sale, but I usually start with the boot selection – I have purchased both tall boots and booties in the past and have worn them for multiple seasons! There are so many good ones to choose from this year, and lots of great designers like Marc Fisher, Sam Edelman, and Jeffrey Campbell!

#5 – Denim

I always try to buy at least one pair of designer denim during the sale, and it’s usually AG because they are one of my favorites from a fit and quality standpoint – I have AG jeans that are several years old and still look good as new. Last year, I bought a pair of Topshop flare jeans that were only around $50 and wore the heck out of them during the fall and winter!

Special Requests:

Beyond my five starting categories, I had special requests to round up Tory Burch and Barefoot Dreams items. I will say that with past anniversary sales, I have not been super impressed with the Tory Burch selection, and I personally am not going to buy something just because it has a logo on it – I want to LOVE it; However, this year there are several great Tory items included in the sale! I do not own any Barefoot Dreams items, but I have heard so many good things about them, I may snag one with this sale! Below are a few Tory Burch and Barefoot Dreams items that have caught my eye so far. That Tory perfume is one of my favorites and is a great deal!

Happy shopping friends!! Let me know if you have any luck with the sale!

As a rookie first year shopper – I’d tell newbies to not get too many things in their cart before they check out. Select 2 or 3, check out and shop again. I had many of my favorites become unavailable because they sat in my cart too long. Hope they re-stock a few of them but likely they won’t.
