Cardinals have been very special to me since losing my parents. Every single time I see one I immediately feel a sense of comfort because it reminds me that I always have them watching over me. I’ve loved having this tree and the cardinals on my porch this Christmas and I’m not quite ready to put it away…it totally works as a winter tree, too, right? ❤️

I don’t know about you, but I love wrapping gifts! My very favorite paper comes from @zazzle - the prints are so pretty and the paper quality is great…nice and thick! I was ahead of the game this yesterday and ordered mine way early. You can still shop these but may have to get expedited shipping to arrive before Christmas (but a lot of the paper is on sale!). FORTY THREE - so hard to wrap my head around it! Birthdays are a lot different when the parents that brought you into the world on this day are no longer here. When I looked up at dinner tonight and saw two cardinals in the stained glass on the ceiling above me, I knew it was my sign that they have been with me today, even if I can’t see them anymore. It brings me comfort, but hurts like hell at the same time. This is grief ❤️‍🩹

A quick and easy way to display your Christmas cards! All you need is some ribbon, tape, and clothespins. I’ve been doing it this way for as long as I can remember and it’s my favorite way to see them all!

I’ve been working on making these lighted balls

I’ve been working on making these lighted balls for a few weeks and seeing them hanging from this big tree brings me so much joy! I think there were easier (and safer) ways to hang them, but Richard insisted on climbing the tree and stretching out over the branches - I was holding my breath and praying the whole time but I think his inner 10-year old was loving it. If you’re curious, I made these balls out of chicken wire and wrapped them in lights - there’s lots of tutorials on Pinterest and YouTube. ✨ ✨ ✨

I layered TWO of the Norfolk pine garland (6ft each) with a Camden fir prelit garland (9ft) that I’ve used the past few years (the exact ones I used are linked). Then I used cedar, magnolia, and berry stems for filler. The printed stockings are from @stuckonhue and the white ones are old from Target!
