Anniversary Trip Recap September 2, 2021 Shannon Aycock
Richard and I celebrated our 15-year wedding anniversary two weeks ago…15 years!!! It blows my mind when I think about how fast time flies. Instead of buying each other gifts, we typically take a trip to celebrate – travel and experiences are the best gift! As much as I wanted to go on an island vacation, neither of us are quite ready to travel out of the country, so we decided to take a little road trip to Charleston! We’ve been to Charleston several times, and it’s one of those places that never disappoints! I thought I’d do a quick little recap of our getaway so that I have the memories documented 🙂 . Also, I have written about Charleston here on the blog in the past, so if you want more info, you can check out that post here .
We might have had a 4-hour car ride, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still travel in style! Outfit is linked here . Also, how adorable is this patchwork duffel ? I ran across it in my local Target the day before we left and had to have it!
We stayed at The Mills House , which is my second time staying at this hotel. It’s in such a great location and has such a beautiful lobby (photo above is taken there) and outdoor courtyard. We had our anniversary dinner at the infamous Hall’s Chophouse. The whole experience was fantastic – from the service to the food – we were treated like royalty! I will be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect because this restaurant seems to get pretty hyped up, but I can honestly say, it lives up to the hype!
The dress I wore to our anniversary dinner is old from JCrew, but I linked several other similar options here , and also linked my accessories.
The stunning Husk Restaurant! Wish I could live in this place!
Charleston has such beautiful churches – can totally see why it is called the Holy City!
This dress was perfect for roaming around in the Charleston heat. Cute, cool, comfy…and best part? Only $20!! Outfit is linked here .
I am pretty sure I have eaten at 82 Queen every time I’ve been to Charleston. The epitome of good southern food – fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, crab cakes…soooo many good things to choose from!
This outfit is definitely a new favorite! These pants are a linen blend but they wear so well…meaning, they don’t sag and get super wrinkly after wearing for a while. Plus, they have an elastic waist which is a plus after all the eating we did (however, I am wearing a bodysuit here which cancels out the comfy pants I suppose, lol)! My necklace is from Anchor Beads and I have already worn it several times. Can’t get enough of the pink and orange! (PS- You can use discount code “POPOFPIPPI20” to save 20% on their website ).
On our last night, we decided to hit up the Citrus Club rooftop bar at the top of The Dewberry. Unfortunately, it had rained earlier that day, so we couldn’t really hang out outside (it was also windy, hence the reason my hair looks like it does in this pic!! Haha!). They do have an interior bar, so we sat there and had a couple of appetizer and drinks. Would love to go back on a night where the weather cooperates. I hear it offers one of the best views around! PS – my outfit is linked here . The turquoise shell necklace is from Willow Park Boutique .
That’s a wrap – it was such a relaxing and much-needed trip to celebrate our anniversary. It’s always nice to get away from the day to day stresses at home and work…now I’m ready for another getaway!
